RUMBLINGS ARE HAPPENING ABOUT A POSSIBLE MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 4

It’s been over a year since the launch of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and you would barely even know the game came out at all. The announcement of the return of Capcom’s beloved Vs. Series was met with excitement in late 2016, but throughout 2017 and until the game’s release, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite was dealt blow after blow from a roster missing X-Men characters, a poor demo released around E3 2017 which did more harm than good-by highlighting the game’s under developed characters models and competition in the form of the Bandai Namco 3v3 fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ that stole the last of its thunder. Those who played Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite liked it even though it had problems, but because of all the poor press it received, it was fighting an up hill battle that it simply could not win.

Throughout 2018, there have been countless rumors and speculation about how Capcom could salvage Infinite, like they did with Street Fighter V, from a new season of characters to an “Uncanny” edition that would bring back the X-Men characters. None of those things ever came to pass, but now new rumors are popping up that hold more weight about developments that might be happening. In a recent video by Maximilian Dood, a popular YouTube personality who specializes in fighting games, he addresses the rumors that he sourced from resetera about what could be Marvel vs. Capcom 4. Max has been a champion of Infinite, and has shot down all other rumors about its future and that of the Vs. Series as a whole but even he seems convinced that something is happening.  The resetera thread comes from a user by the name of DasVergeben who has posted similar rumors about the likes of Injustice 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which turned out to be true. DasVergeben stated in his thread that Peter Rosas, who goes by the alias of Combofiend, used to work at Capcom during Infinite’s development and now works at Marvel games, showing up as a producer for the recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man. It’s his influence in Marvel that has convinced both Marvel and Capcom to give the crossover fighter another shot.

As Max states in his video, if these rumors turn out to be true, don’t expect an MvC4 to show up soon as Capcom will more than likely what to learn from their mistakes about the rushed development. In the meantime, Capcom could sure win some fans back by releasing their past Marvel games in a compilation while fans wait on the future of the franchise.
