BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS DISC ONLY BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY ADDED TO XBOX ONE

Batman: Arkham Origins gets a bad rap and I’ve never really understood why. Yes, it didn’t really evolve the Arkham series beyond what Rocksteady did with the first two titles in the franchise, but it has a terrific story, a great new Batman and Joker voiced by Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker respectively and some downright chilling sequences, and that’s not because it was set at Christmas time during a blizzard. WB Games seems like it’s trying to bury the game, having not releasing any type of “Ultimate Edition” like they did with Asylum and City and leaving it off the Batman: Return to Arkham collection from last year.

This makes today’s news very exciting. Batman: Arkham Origins is finally being made available to at least one current generation console: The Xbox One. Major Nelson announced today via Twitter that Origins has been added to the backwards compatibility list of Xbox 360 games for Xbox One, although you will need to track down a copy of the disc to play it if you don’t own the game anymore. While it would be nice to be able to buy the game off of Xbox Live and play it on the One, it’s far more convenient than signing up for Sony’s pricey PS Now service and streaming it via PS4.
