During a Nintendo Direct held yesterday evening, it was revealed that the Kickstarter backed sequel to the Battle Chasers comic series, Battle Chasers: Nightwar, would be coming to Nintendo’s new handheld/console hybrid, Switch. The game is currently in development by Airship Syndicate, a studio made up of ex-staff of Vigil who worked on the Darksiders franchise and recently picked up a publisher in the newly christened THQNordic. The game itself is a throwback to classic 16-bit RPG’s (the studio’s name is even an homage to the classic mode of transportation in classic Final Fantasy games) and was initially only planned for release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
There was some confusion that in the communication of the announcement that had to be cleared up by Airship’s Steve Maduriera. The Direct claimed that Nightwar would be a timed exclusive for the Switch but Maduriera took to Twitter to correct that statement:
