First it was an award-winning comic series, then it became a game by critically acclaimed darlings Telltale Games, now the game based on a comic…will be a comic. As part of its DC DIGITAL: DOWNLOAD THIS! panel today during this year’s comic-con, DC Comics released the existence of a new digital comic set in the world of The Wolf Among Us from Telltale Games, which was of course based on the DC/Vertigo series, Fables. The series will come to digital first later this year in the month of December and will make its way to print in early 2015.
This is not unprecedented for DC, having produced spin-off comics for the Batman: Arkham games as well as Injustice: Gods Among Us, the latter of which started first as a digital book was then released as collected issues and trade paper backs. The details of the new The Wolf Among Us series are as follows:
“The first-ever Digital First Vertigo title will be FABLES: THE WOLF AMONG US, based on the critically-acclaimed episodic game series from Telltale Games licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The story will be written by Matthew Sturges and Dave Justus with art by Steve Sadowski, Travis Moore, and Shawn McManus. The cover artist for the series is Chrissie Zullo. FABLES: THE WOLF AMONG US will be a weekly Digital First series and is set to debut in December 2014 with print collections to follow in 2015.”
