COMIC GAMERS ASSEMBLE LEGO BATMAN 3: BEYOND GOTHAM EXPANSION WISHLIST

It was announced to the world at large two days ago that Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham would be getting six mission expansion sets with three being available at launch: The Dark Knight Pack, the Man of Steel Pack and the Batman 75th Anniversary Pack. TT Games are obviously secretive about what the remaining three sets, but that’s not going to stop people like me creating lists of expansions that they would like to see over the coming months. Here’s a list of some of the sets I would like to see round out the last three slots (in no particular order.)

AQUAMAN

The King of Atlantis was once the but of every joke in the super hero universe, but thanks to the New 52, an upcoming DC animated film focused on the character, and perhaps a spot next to Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in the upcoming Batman v Superman film, Aquaman has proven that he’s worthy to stand toe-to-toe with the heavy hitters in the DC Universe. What better way to show off Aquaman’s new found awareness than with a few missions set in the underwater city of Atlantis, bringing in Mera to the playable roster, along with Black Manta and Ocean Master. Aquaman has one game to his name thus far that’s best forgotten, so like they do with all the properties they work on, TT Games can show us all how it’s done.

BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES

The game is called Lego Batman 3 and it is the character’s birthday this year, so a Lego themed stage or two focusing on one of the most beloved incarnations of the Dark Knight would be something really special. Though it would be sad to not hear the voices of Mark Hamill and Arleen Sorkin coming out of the Lego-fied versions of Harley and Joker, the cast TT Games have already for the Lego games are no slouches either, so as long as the asthetic matches the iconic look of the show, fans would be well justified paying for the season pass.

TEEN TITANS GO!

Don’t hate on Teen Titans GO! because it robbed you of Young Justice, for if it came on along side that program, you would be laughing along with the rest of us in this often hilarious parody of the DC universe. The Lego games are all about family friendly fun, and Teen Titans GO! is just the property for the young and the young at heart. Robin, Beast Boy and Cyborg are already set to appear in the main Lego Batman 3 game, all we need is Raven and Starfire (and possibly Silkie) to round out the roster.

YOUNG JUSTICE

Speaking of Young Justice, the gang is set to reunite in a crossover episode of the Teen Titans GO! program, and having them appear a Lego game could further appease the fans who felt betrayed by Warner Bros. and DC after Young Justice left the air waves. The cast were already in a game last year that didn’t do much to ease the pain of Young Justice’s cancellation, so yet again it falls on TT Games to demonstrate how to turn a phenominal cartoon into a great game, no matter how small the portion.

LEGO ARKHAM

While we continue to wait for Batman: Arkham Knight to arrive, it would be incredible to see a Lego parody version of the gritty, serious take on Batman in video games. TT Games took a jab at Batman: Arkham City in Lego Batman 2 during one of the Vicki Vale newscasts, so for them to expand on this joke with a few levels based on either Asylum or City would be beyond amazing, especially if they got Kevin Conroy in to record a few lines.

THE FLASH

Flash Facts: We’re less than a month away from the debut of The Flash series on the CW, and if Arrow is any indication, the character is about to get a lot more fans in the coming months. We’ve never seen crimson speedster take a starring role in a home  console video game, just a few handheld games (AUTHOR: Coming soon, by the way…,) so although it wouldn’t be more than a small expansion pack, it would mark the first time The Flash took center stage on a console, this could in turn maybe even lead to the character showing up in a future game.

GREEN LANTERN

A lot of the main plot involving Brainaic in Lego Batman seemingly involves Lantern’s across every color of the spectrum, but that doesn’t mean Green Lantern should not get his own expansion. Two out of the three expansions announced thus far are taking inspiration from films (The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel) and although a Green Lantern film exists, it would be better for all involved to set it in the world of the short lived animated series. Josh Keaton, who voiced Hal Jordan on the show, is returning to voice the character in Lego Batman 3, so some other characters that could join him in a short adventure are Aya, the sentient AI, as well as Red Lantern Razer.

GREEN ARROW

Given the popularity of the Arrow TV series I’m rather surprised that with two months left to release no official announcement has been made about the Emerald Archer’s inclusion to the expansive roster. Could it be perhaps that they’re saving Team Arrow for their own official pack? Stephen Amell has gone on record that he was in the recording studio this year for an upcoming video game, and with Arkham Knight looking rather full for a Green Arrow appearance and no Arrow game in the pipeline, this is where he’s likely to show up. Along with the title character, an appearance by Lego Felicity, Diggle, and field members Arsenal and Black Canary is a must. Oh, and please include a joke about Lego Arrow turning his head around in his hood to switch from paint to mask.
