With the success of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Canadian developer Beenox is now Activision’s go to developer for its Spider-Man games. Last year’s Edge of Time was met with a fairly luke warm reception (though, it’s in fact pretty great), but the studio is getting a third chance this summer with the tie-in to Sony’s upcoming film the Amazing Spider-Man. The game made its debut in trailer form at the 2011 Spike VGA’s, and today the public is met with the first in game screenshot from the game issued on the titles official facebook page:
Beenox has some pretty big shoes to fill when it comes to the Spider-Man film games. Treyarch’s Spider-Man 2 is considered by many to be one of the greatest superhero and film related games. This is also Beenox’s first attempt at an open world design for Spider-man, with their previous efforts being level based affairs. With six or so months left to go until the films debut, hopefully Beenox can produce another great Spidey game.
